It is with undeniable curiosity that I am going to review the latest record by Trinakrius, historic Heavy/Doom band from Palermo. Last work ever due to the untimely death of vocalist Vincent Montalto, creative mind of the combo's lyrics during its long existence which now counted almost thirty years.
This EP "Le Streghe son Tornate" includes several news. The typical Doom sound keystone of all previous releases is replaced by a horror-tinged Rock that goes perfectly with the bewitching texts written and sung entirely in Italian.
Since the instrumental opener LE STREGHE SON TORNATE we note the very melodic, intense, full of charisma and strong suggestiveness approach that leads to the magnificent LA STREGA DEL VILLAGGIO, characterized by gothic atmospheres and in which Vincent's voice begins to tell a story which it feels like you're part of it as violins, keyboards and guitar solos do the rest in a memorable six minutes of length. More Rock 'n Roll NERA SIGNORA, a song built on a refrain that can be memorized from the first listen and on a guitar work with an impressive shot, like goth and ritual the subsequent instrumental and recited IL RITO. Full of pathos MALLEUS MALEFICARUM, thanks again to the splendid vocal interpretation and to the high-class Prog tints as well as to a refrain that is still well fitting. DANZA MACABRA, another dark and evocative instrumental interlude, introduces the final CARILLON which strikes with its Doom charge but also for the verses sung masterfully in an oppressive way and on pitch-black keyboards.
"Le Streghe son tornate" is a great work written with passion and a lot of compositional ability, the worthy musical testament of a great band but, above all, of a great Man and Artist.

É con molta curiosità che mi accingo a recensire l’ultimo lavoro discografico dei Trinakrius, storica Heavy Doom band palermitana. Ultimo lavoro di sempre a causa della prematura scomparsa del vocalist Vincent Montalto, mente creativa dei testi del combo durante la sua lunga esistenza che ormai contava quasi trent’anni.
L’EP “Le Streghe sono tornate” presenta diverse novità, il tipico doom sound cardine di tutte le precedenti uscite discografiche viene sostituito da un rock a tinte orrorifiche che perfettamente si sposa con i stregoneschi testi trattati e scritti interamente in italiano.
Sin dalla strumentale opener LE STREGHE SONO TORNATE si nota l’approccio molto melodico, intenso, pieno di carisma e di forte suggestività che sfocia nella magnifica LA STREGA DEL VILLAGGIO, caratterizzata da atmosfere gotiche ed in cui la voce di Vincent inizia a raccontare una storia cui sembra di far parte mentre violini, tastiere e assoli di chitarra fanno il resto in sei minuti di durata memorabili. Più Rock 'n Roll NERA SIGNORA, song costruita su un refrain memorizzatile già al primo ascolto e su un lavoro di chitarra dotato di un tiro impressionante, come goth e rituale la successiva strumentale e recitata IL RITO. Carica di pathos MALLEUS MALEFICARUM grazie ancora alla splendida interpretazione vocale e a delle tinte prog di gran classe nonché ad un ritornello ancora azzeccato. DANZA MACABRA, altro tenebroso ed evocativo intermezzo strumentale, introduce la conclusiva CARILLON che colpisce per la carica doom ma anche per delle strofe cantate magistralmente in maniera oppressiva e a delle tastiere nere come la pece.
“Le Streghe sono tornate” è un gran lavoro scritto con passione e tantissima capacità compositiva, il degno testamento discografico di una grande Band ma sopratutto di un grandissimo Uomo e Artista.
